MILWAUKEE "BEER LINE B"

Christopher Andrews worked as Project Architect on the Beer Line "B" Housing redevelopment project in Milwaukee Wisconsin with Solomon Architecture & Urban Design. This development, on a industrial Brownfield site, recaptured waterfront landscape for public use and reconnected it to existing urban fabric.  It includes market rate and affordable for sale and rental housing.

Although the initial vision showed a traditional building style in the Urban Form Guidelines, the project developers opted for a more "modern" aesthetic, while still retaining the scale and pedestrian oriented character of the initial vision. The density of this 25 acre site accommodates between 12 and 40 dwelling units per acre (net) for a total of approximately seven hundred dwelling units.
