RICHMOND MENKER HOUSING REHABILITATION

Under the San Jose Strong Neighborhoods Initiative this 31 building complex has new lighting, landscaping, gardens and building renovations to help alleviate vandalism, illegal dumping, and most importantly, reduce gang activities and drug related crime.

Removal of illegal fences opened up a large communal space to barbeque and enjoy the outdoors. Community gardens are available for the residents to grow food. Catherine Chang, while an associate at at Catalyst, directed the landscape design work and volunteered with some of the community installation.
